snow and ice before twilight

as you may have noticed the blog hasn't been updated in awhile. this is because i was sick with pneumonia and in the hospital which interrupted my daily photo taking. as i have not been taking daily pictures or posting the backlog the blog will now be on a "worth posting" schedule after i work through the backlog. not that too many people are paying attention to the day by day anyway.

various smaller icicles

sometimes when you take a picture of something closer than you usually look at it, it begins to resemble other things.
i think that icicles can resemble whirlpools or tornados, especially when you can see their core.

winter scenes

i like shadows on snow. there is depth and texture that shadows don't normally have.
every time i see the ice on the porch it is longer.
how long before it breaks under its own weight or melts.

there are turkeys that walk in the woods

they walk to get water mostly.
you can always see their thousands of tracks.
sometimes you hear them.
sometimes you even see them.
rarely one might get a picture before they run away.
im sure if i were healthy i could sit in a blind and catch them when they come down in the morning.
probably get better pictures that way.

i enjoy artisan workmanship

people stopped making metalwork and woodwork like this a long time ago.
the people who made these have been dead for a century at least.
how much will we have lost by the end of my lifetime?
